Ayr Cycle Routes
National cycle route NCN7 runs for 2 miles along Ayr Esplanade, apart from an easy detour along the common green. It’s popular with all ages, including families with young children on their first bike. NCN7 continues north to Prestwick, Troon, Barassie and beyond on mostly traffic free paths. If you’re feeling a bit more adventurous, then head south of Ayr where there are many quiet roads and endless hills with great views.
Ayr Route CA1
Ayr Esplanade - Greenan Castle - Alloway Burton cycle path - Robert Burns Birthplace Museum - Maybole Road
Elevation gain: 65m
An ideal ride if you’re just starting out cycling – not too hilly, not to long. And there’s the obligatory coffee stop too at the Robert Burns Birthplace Museum.
